Le Boss released

2001 - Gérard Houllier was released from Broadgreen Hospital after heart surgery. On the same day we were drawn with Barcelona, Galatasaray and Roma for the second group phase of the Champions League.

300 for the reds

2003 - We beat Fulham 2-1 at Loftus Road. Ex-Cottager Steve Finnan set Emile Heskey up for the opener, our 300th away goal in the Premier League. Our winner came when Danny Murphy netted his fiftieth career League goal, converting from the spot after Florent Sinama-Pongolle was brought down in the area, shortly after he had been assaulted by Luis Boa Morte in the centre circle, who was dismissed. Vladimír Šmicer played his hundredth League game.
